Hello!

Hello! I'm Devin, I'm an accounting technology major at Linn-Benton Community College. I'll be receiving an associates degree at the end of fall term 2023 (yay!) and transferring to OSU to pursue a bachelor's degree in accountancy and become a CPA.

My initial goal when re-entering college was to get some practical business education since I was floundering with trying to make my sewing business flourish. Marketing was a nightmare for me. I'm a tailor not a photographer! Turns out you have to be a lot of things when you're a sole proprietor. If I go back to sewing as a business in any capacity in the future, I think it will look very different than it did two years ago. I'm hoping to learn some fundamentals of marketing in the lens of a sole proprietor so I can learn the best ways to market my niche business.

Sewing is my passion, and my sewing business is on hold while I work on school.  In the meantime I sew for fun and an occasional old client or friend. I mostly sew custom formalwear like suit jackets, vests, dress shirts, and bowties. I own four sewing machines, and sew about half of my own wardrobe. I was inspired to learn custom sewing because being 5' 4" and rather slim, finding men's clothes to fit me has always been a challenge. "Small" sizes usually look like potato sacks on me, and if I'm going to have to spend several hours tailoring a new shirt to fit me, I might as well sew it from scratch so it can also have fun designs on the fabric.

My personal quote is, "I bet I could make that."
